As I drove toward the shelter I was staying at, I passed him. His ingenuity was awesome. I pulled back around and immediately praised his creativity. I asked if I could take a picture of him, and he kindly obliged. We spoke, and although some of what he was saying wasn’t clear to me, one thing was certain: despite his circumstances, he was not defeated. Not once did he complain; he was absolutely rich with gratitude.
